Fibresmith is the ever-evolving, creative playground of textile designer Leslie Keating. Founded in 2017 as a boutique shop in Yarraville, Fibresmith was born to combine Leslie’s long standing range of hand printed textiles, Maze & Vale, with her hand dyed yarns, indie dressmaking patterns, notions, and natural fibre fabrics sourced from around the world.
Running a busy storefront left little time for printing and designing, leading to an unplanned hiatus for Maze & Vale for several years. In 2022, tired of the retail culture of simply buying and selling, Leslie took a leap of faith and moved into a bright, light filled warehouse, allowing her the space and time to embrace her creativity and return to her screen printing roots.
The latter half of 2025 marks another shift for Fibresmith, an intentional shift towards working more slowly but with more intention, a shift back to creating for the joy of it.
Today, Leslie focuses purely on creating quilt kits, fabric bundles and a small range of carefully hand made goods with her Maze & Vale range, and hand dyeing her natural yarn range in intriguing, slightly muddy, and utterly unique hues.
