Yaks are both wild and domesticated in Tibet and produce approx. 100g of fine downy fibre per year combed from the animal during Spring molting. Yak is comparable to cashmere in softness and is durable, lightweight with lustre and a good thermal mass.
Besides being soft and comfortable to wear, Yak is 10-15% warmer than Merino wool. This pure, unblended yarn is beautiful on its own and to combine with lace weight for a more creative colour stitch.
