Two plies are twisted tightly together to produce a very soft and springy yarn. The two plies with a high twist make the yarn slightly bumpy which helps the strands of yarn hold together against each other making it great for colourwork and lace work.
Extrafine (19.5 micron) merino wool makes this yarn soft and bouncy for next to skin comfort. While we don’t normally advocate synthetic fibres, a little nylon is added for the extra durabilty and machine washability that is needed for hard wearing socks.
