Mending in Fern : Hemp Patchwork Panel by Maze & Vale
Hand printed in the Fibresmith warehouse, this offwhite 100% hemp fabric features the Maze & Vale ‘Mending’ design in custom mixed Fern (a lively mid green) ink.
These patchwork panels have a minimum size of 33cm by 45cm (13″ by 17.5″), perfect for creating small projects or patchwork for quilts or dressmaking – you can download our bonus Freeform Patchwork instructions here to get you started. Hemp behaves similarly to linen so is a long lasting cloth that will soften with washing and use.
Printed using solvent free, non toxic, environmentally friendly inks in custom mixed colours. Screen printed by hand with great care, there may be very slight variations in the designs but, if present, these will be minor and are part of the natural charm of handprinted fabric.
Mending is inspired by sashiko, the ancient Japanese mending technique, which uses beautifully uniform, thick stitches to repair worn areas of cloth. My representation is more haphazard, less planned, and embraces the beauty of overlapping marks and the new shapes they create.
Wash in cold on the gentle cycle with mild detergent. Hang dry in the shade or tumble dry on low. Iron on reverse or use a pressing cloth to iron ink side.
